The Lake Murray Nature Center at Tucker Tower is a 5000 sf flagship visitor and interpretive center for the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. Barrett L Williamson Architects developed a design that interprets Lake Murray and the Park through the lens of “water”. The building is dramatically sited at the entrance to Tucker Tower while a portion of the building cantilevers over Lake Murray. The building incorporates many “green” features including solar roof panels, daylight harvesting, super insulation, energy efficient lighting and controls, lake source heat pumps, ultra-low consumption restroom fixtures, and a cistern for landscape irrigation. The project is designed to meet LEED Silver certification.
